DOCTOR OF PHILOSOPHY (SPORTS SCIENCE AND RECREATION) (SR950) RESEARCH

Synopsis


 

The aim of the programme is to enable sports scientists, exercise specialist, physical educationist, health-care and allied-health professionals (nutritionists, dietician, physiotherapists, occupational therapist and psychologist) and medical doctors to gain knowledge of science in sports. The sports science research focus in the Faculty includes exercise physiology, physical conditioning, nutrition, biomechanics, rehabilitation, psychology and other relevant areas in sports and exercise. In addition, the Faculty also focuses on sports and recreational management research (sports media and communication, sports sociology, sport tourism, sports administration and leadership, outdoor and recreational studies). The doctoral programme provides with research-specific training, academic writing, lectures, seminars, career management and presentation skills. At the end of studies, student is required to submit a written thesis and attend a viva-voce examination.

 

Entry Requirement


  • A master ’s degree from UiTM or any other institutions of higher learning recognised by UiTM senate; or
  • Other qualification equivalent to a master ’s degree (in relevant field) with other qualification / appropriate experience approved by the UiTM senate; or
  • Bachelor degree (First Class Honours) in relevant field from UiTM or any other institutions of higher learning approved by the UiTM senate; and
  • A candidate is required to submit research proposal and will be interviewed by Postgraduate Committee
