Synopsis
Graduates of the UiTM, Faculty of Pharmacy’s multidisciplinary PhD’s programs are sought after by institutions in academia, industry and government. The research program can be completed in six (4) semesters. Currently, 35% from our total PhD students participate in research during the course of their program in the various research laboratories. Focused studies in the area of clinical pharmacy include the following; adverse drug event model for geriatric patient and expanded role of pharmacist in medication therapy management in primary care setting for diabetes. Focused study in the area of microbiology include the studies on the bioactive metabolites from endophytes associates with Rubiaceae plants from biological reserve. Focused studies in the area of pharmaceutical chemistry include the phytochemical study of selected plant families and biological study of isolated compounds, as well as synthetic compounds. Focused study in the area of pharmacogenomics include unravelling the genomic and metabolomic and features of human gut microbiota in obese adults.
Focused study in the area of pharmaceutics include the design of chitosan – drug conjugate for topical treatment of skin cancer. Focused study in the area of pharmacology include the enhancement of insulin sensitivity by stevioside in insulin resistance cell culture model. Entry Requirement
- A Master's degree in Science or other related fields from UiTM or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by UiTM Senate, or
- An Honours Degree in Pharmacy or a science-related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 from UiTM or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by UiTM Senate or
- Other qualification equivalent to the Master's degree (in a relevant field) with appropriate experience in a related field recognized by UiTM Senate
- A candidate is required to submit a research proposal and will be interviewed by members of Postgraduate Committee.
- International candidates must have a TOEFL score of 550 or an IELTS score of at least Band 6.
