Synopsis


 

The Doctor of Philosophy’s degree program in Pharmacology prepares students for research activities at the highest level. Currently, 13% from our total PhD’s students participate in research during the course of their program in the Pharmacology and Toxicology Research Laboratory. Focused studies include the following; oxidative stress indicators and immune function in individuals with Down’s Syndrome; antioxidant capacities of plant crude extracts; the safety of herbs and herbal products; the efficacy of phytoantioxidants in oxidative stress-related conditions and screening of natural products for norciceptive efficacy. Examples of PhD projects include the following; the exploration of nutraceutical properties of Malaysian propolis from stingless bees. Entry Requirement


 

  • A Master's degree in Science or other related fields from UiTM or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by UiTM Senate, or
  • An Honours Degree in Pharmacy or a science-related field with a minimum CGPA of 3.50 from UiTM or any other institutions of higher learning recognized by UiTM Senate or
  • Other qualification equivalent to the Master's degree (in a relevant field) with appropriate experience in a related field recognized by UiTM Senate
  • A candidate is required to submit a research proposal and will be interviewed by members of Postgraduate Committee.
  • International candidates must have a TOEFL score of 550 or an IELTS score of at least Band 6.
